About Us

The Ministry was established in 2001 after it was excised by the defunct Ministry of Information, Social Development, Youth, Sports, and Culture. However, the Ministry was renamed in 2003 as the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Social Mobilization, until 2017 when it was again renamed Ministry of Youth and Special Duties. It was established with a vision to empower, inspire, and transform, the Edo State Ministry of Youth and Humanitarian Affairs is at the forefront of youth development and humanitarian efforts in our region. Our multifaceted approach integrates innovative solutions with grassroots engagement, ensuring that our programs are inclusive, sustainable, and impactful.

Our Vision

Our vision is a future where every young person in Edo State is equipped with the tools and knowledge to succeed in a rapidly changing world, and where humanitarian principles guide our collective response to crises and emergencies. We envision a society where the inherent dignity and worth of every individual are upheld, and where social justice and solidarity are the pillars of community development.

Our Mission

Our mission is twofold: to empower the youth of Edo State with the skills, resources, and opportunities they need to realize their full potential, and to provide compassionate support to vulnerable populations in times of need. Through strategic interventions and collaborative partnerships, we aim to build a more equitable and resilient society where every individual has the opportunity to thrive.

Our Mandate

As mandated by the Government of Edo State, our ministry is entrusted with the responsibility of formulating and implementing policies, programs, and initiatives that promote the socio-economic empowerment and political participation of youth, while also coordinating humanitarian activities aimed at alleviating the suffering of vulnerable populations and providing relief in times of crisis.

Our Objectives

Empower youth through skills development, entrepreneurship training, and access to educational opportunities.

Promote youth participation in governance, decision-making processes, and community development initiatives.

Provide humanitarian assistance and support to vulnerable groups, including internally displaced persons, refugees, and persons with disabilities.

Strengthen partnerships with government agencies, civil society organizations, and the private sector to maximize impact and reach.
